Rotherham United are keen to re-sign Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore but could be forced to wait until United's pre-season plans become clearer.
Gore has made two appearances for the United first team but injuries have curtailed his progress in the last couple of seasons.
He made a loan switch to Rotherham in January but injury worries again plagued his temporary stay in South Yorkshire.
However, after starting the last two games of last season under new Millers boss Matt Hamshaw, the 20-year-old made an impression and they are desperate to see him return to the New York Stadium next term.
“We're in regular communication with Manchester United,” Hamshaw told the Rotherham Advertiser.
“They're seeing what happens with their pre-season and we'll go from there.
“I think that, if he does come out, we'll be near the front of the race. I'm hoping it's before the start of the season but with these things you never know. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen in three weeks.
“I really like Dan. I like his attitude, I like his commitment, I like his tenacity, I like his work ethic, I like everything he represents.”
Gore is out of contract at the end of next season and will hope to make an impression in pre-season with United. His situation should become clearer in the next few weeks and Rotherham will be keeping a keen eye on his progress.
