Man Utd could finally be about to agree Bryan Mbeumo deal after what Brentford have just announced (opinion)

Manchester United have been pursuing Bryan Mbeumo for several weeks now.

The Red Devils have already seen two bids rejected by Brentford for the Cameroon international – the latest of which was worth £55m plus £7.5m – with talks ongoing.

Mbeumo has told Brentford and Tottenham – another side keen to sign him – that he only wants a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Typically, clubs like to get a replacement in before sanctioning the sale of a key man, which is only natural – were it to be the other way around, some may demand an inflated fee, aware of the fact the buying side now have millions of pounds burning a hole in their pocket.

On that note, Brentford may have just found a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo – which could now speed up his move to Manchester United.

Brentford sign Antoni Milambo

The Bees have now announced the signing of Antoni Milambo in a £16m move from Feyenoord.

Scorer of seven goals and creator of nine assists in 43 appearances last season, the Dutchman is a talented attacking midfielder who shone for Feyenoord last term, even winning the UEFA Champions League Man of the Match award after netting twice in a 3-1 win over Benfica.

The 20-year-old often pops up on the right and in the centre of attacking areas, similarly to where Mbeumo tends to operate, which leads us to think the Netherlands U21 international could well be arriving to replace the Manchester United target.

What Manchester United need to do to sign Bryan Mbeumo as apparent replacement arrives

TBR Football understand Brentford want a guaranteed £60m to sell Mbeumo this summer.

As of now, Manchester United have only offered £55m with an additional £7.5m in additional payments, which is close to the asking price, but not close enough to appease the Bees.

Ultimately, it would be foolish to prolong this saga.

Mbeumo wants Manchester United, Brentford seem to have a replacement in Milambo, and Ruben Amorim surely hopes the 25-year-old is signed before pre-season begins, so the longer the Red Devils haggle over the £5m gap in valuation, the more they risk angering their Lisbon-born coach and supporters too.
