Manchester United’s young talents will view pre-season as a chance to rise up Ruben Amorim’s pecking order.
There is less than a week until Manchester United begin pre-season training on July 7 with a hectic schedule ahead this summer.
The first summer friendly against Leeds United takes place in Sweden on July 19, before the squad goes on tour in the United States to participate in the Premier League Summer Series.
United’s post-season tour of Asia gave a platform for some of the club’s exciting youngsters to perform, and many will be hoping to make an impact on tour this summer.
One of those youngsters looking to impress is Harry Amass, who made his first-team breakthrough last season and was named United’s Young Player of the Year.

Harry Amass must take chance to overtake Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw made his way back into Amorim’s starting lineup in the second half of last season, but a disappointing display in the Europa League final cast doubt on his future.
Shaw admitted United players must leave this summer as part of a wider club rebuild, and it is still not clear whether the 29-year-old will be in Amorim’s plans next season.

But with Shaw’s position in question, it provides Amass with a huge opportunity to cement his place as a first-team regular.
Shaw is United’s longest-serving player having made a record-breaking move to Old Trafford back in 2014.
Amorim sees a future for Shaw at United despite struggling to find a place for him in his 3-4-2-1 formation. Amass has played as a wing-back when given an opportunity last season.
Harry Amass must impress in pre-season again
Last summer, Amass starred in United’s pre-season tour, featuring in every game under Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag’s staff had concerns over Amass’ physicality, but the 18-year-old has been working hard behind the scenes to make sure he is ready for first-team football.
Amass was tipped to follow Kobbie Mainoo into the first team and now he has a chance to prove to Amorim that he can compete for a starting spot next season.

With Tyrell Malacia likely to leave this summer, Amass can compete with January signing Patrick Dorgu for a spot at left wing-back.
Amass is being mentored by Shaw, and now he has the chance to be his long-term replacement at Old Trafford.
