Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore has endured two frustrating loan moves and could be on the move again this summer.
Loan moves are vital for Manchester United prospects as they look to push towards the first team.
David Beckham needed a loan move to Preston North End before emerging as an Old Trafford favourite, and many United talents would love to follow that path.
Spare a thought for Dan Gore, though, as his two loan moves away from United have been difficult.
Gore was loaned to Port Vale in 2024, but made just one appearance before heading back to United.
Gore battled back from a dislocated shoulder to then join Rotherham United in January, only to suffer another setback.

Gore impressed Rotherham fans after a fine debut performance against Birmingham City, but he managed just three appearances.
Gore suffered a foot problem at Rotherham, with boss Steve Evans calling the injury ‘unbelievable’.

Two loans, two periods of frustration for Gore as he looked to develop his game away from Old Trafford.
Gore has been hailed as ‘captain material’ and compared to Roy Keane by his former Burnley youth coach Lewis Craig, but he really needs senior minutes now.
Reports claim United are open to selling Gore this summer, potentially believing that he just isn’t close enough to Ruben Amorim’s first-team plans.
Rotherham’s new manager Matt Hamshaw has now told The Rotherham Advertiser that he wants to bring Gore back to South Yorkshire.
Hamshaw admitted being in ‘regular’ talks with United over a deal for Gore, but is left waiting for the Red Devils to take a look at the midfielder in pre-season.
The Millers boss added that he expects to be ‘near the front’ of the queue for Gore, but has no idea when a deal will actually materialise.
Hamshaw also praised Gore’s attitude and work ethic, believing that he would be a fine signing for Rotherham after a frustrating loan last season.
“We’re in regular communication with Manchester United,” said Hamshaw. “They’re seeing what happens with their pre-season and we’ll go from there.
“I think that, if he does come out, we’ll be near the front of the race. I’m hoping it’s before the start of the season but with these things you never know. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen in three weeks.
“I really like Dan. I like his attitude, I like his commitment, I like his tenacity, I like his work ethic, I like everything he represents,” he added.
Season-long loan could be ideal for Dan Gore
Both of Gore’s loan moves have come in the January window, with Gore spending the second half of each campaign away from United.
Sadly, those deals haven’t worked out due to injury, meaning Gore hasn’t been able to gain all that much from his time away.
A full season away from United could really help Gore, allowing him to fully settle in – and hopefully, familiar surroundings at Rotherham will help as well.
If Gore suffers another setback, at least he would have a full season to come back and still make an impact, rather than the end of the season being in sight after one injury blow.
It’s too soon to sell Gore and completely give up on him as a United prospect for the future, but he needs the 2025-26 season to be a success.
