Exclusive: Leeds United’s ‘problem’ with Jack Harrison after Everton stint

There seems to be one clear issue that hasn’t been solved at Leeds United and that’s Jack Harrison’s future.

After spending the last two seasons on loan at Everton, Harrison has always seemed destined to depart Elland Road.

Leeds fans might not have been too keen in taking the winger back as Harrison went 13 months without scoring.

But the more concerning factor is that Everton fans still don’t want Harrison permanently, meaning he is ultimately stuck under Daniel Farke’s regime.

Leeds are ‘open to all options’ with Harrison, but now it appears as though the 49ers have a ‘problem’.

Leeds United have a ‘problem’ with Jack Harrison

Whites fans probably forgot all about the 28-year-old with him not appearing for Leeds since Sam Allardyce’s short tenure.

His Everton stint didn’t go to plan as only one goal came from his second season with the Toffees, as David Moyes won’t be rushing to bring him back to Merseyside.

After giving his one and only goal contribution, Harrison was hoping to kick on, but it’s safe to say no momentum was built.

With him now back under Farke, the winger still has a contract until 2028, meaning that he still has three more seasons in Yorkshire.

Leeds previously demanded £30m for Harrison, but with his form dipping, it now appears not many clubs would be willing to even come close to that fee.

Well, speaking to LeedsUnited.News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has stated whether he will get that permanent sale.

“Leeds have got a problem with Harrison. We know he’s got a big contract, pretty pretty sizable. He’ll either get loaned or he’ll play for Leeds again,” Bailey said.

“I don’t think Leeds’ squad is of the strength that you can really rubbish the idea of him not coming back, and I don’t think they have yet.”

Farke should take a chance on Harrison at Leeds

This now appears to be a serious issue at Leeds.

Harrison’s contract means not only is he for the long-run, but he also earns a significant wage at the club which isn’t ideal.

By loaning him out they run the risk of not receiving a loan fee after Everton didn’t offer extra funds, which means they wouldn’t reap the rewards of yet another loan.

Even if he does choose that option, he will still have two more seasons left on his contract meaning that Farke might have to take a chance on him next campaign.

It’s unlikely he’d be a starter, but Harrison’s last season before leaving for Everton was promising and could be replicated.

Games played 36

Goal involvements 12 (5G+7A)

Chances created 55

Fouls won 37

Farke would have a mammoth job on his hands to try and resurface this form, but there is clearly ability which could be useful to Leeds.

Harrison’s chances of a role are increasing, and the decision might be out of Farke’s hands with this ‘problem’ in mind.
