Manchester United’s summer rebuild isn’t just about players – it’s also shining a light on former staff making waves elsewhere.
As Ruben Amorim continues his pre-season preparations, the structure behind the scenes at United is once again under scrutiny, especially following another disappointing league finish last term.
Due to the disappointing end to the season, Manchester United moved swiftly to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
The club’s development system and coaching history are often fertile ground for talent that ends up thriving beyond Old Trafford.

From ex-players to former assistants, many who leave the United setup go on to secure major roles across Europe, often bringing with them lessons learned from one of football’s most scrutinised environments.
One such figure is now on the verge of taking on a major challenge in English football’s top tier – and he used to work under the same roof as Amorim’s current staff.
According to the BBC, Martin Ho, a former assistant in Manchester United’s Women’s team, is in advanced talks to become the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur Women in the Women’s Super League.
Ho was a trusted member of Marc Skinner’s backroom team at United before leaving in 2023 to manage SK Brann in Norway’s Toppserien.

Since his appointment, he has transformed the Norwegian club into genuine title challengers, guiding them to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the 2023–24 season and finishing as league runners-up in 2024.
Brann currently sit second in the Toppserien and have drawn widespread praise for their progress under Ho’s leadership.
Prior to his stint at United, Martin Ho developed his coaching credentials at both Everton and Liverpool, where he led the Under-21s.
Tottenham Hotspur, who finished 11th in the WSL last season and parted ways with Robert Vilahamn in June, are now keen on appointing Ho as they aim to avoid another relegation scrap.
While his appointment is not yet official, sources suggest it’s only a matter of time before the former United man makes his return to English football in a prominent managerial role.
Manchester United may have lost Ho in 2023, but his career trajectory is proving just how impactful time at Carrington can be.
