Manchester United's Diego Leon has sent a message to the club on social media.

Leon finalised his move from Paraguayan team Cerro Porteno in January after completing a medical. The agreement stipulated that he would transfer to Old Trafford during the summer window.

United settled on a £3.3 million fee, which could rise to £7m with add-ons, with Cerro Porteno and it is anticipated that Leon will be evaluated in pre-season before determining his future steps. At 18 years old, Leon is a natural left-back and United believe he has the potential to make the first team, although they acknowledge that time will be needed for him to adjust to life in England following his move from Paraguay.

And young star has sent a message to United as he gears up for pre-season when the Reds return to training on Monday, July 7. United's pre-season campaign kicks off against Leeds United in Stockholm on July 19. Shortly after their journey to Sweden, the club then fly to the United States to take part in the Premier League Summer Series - where they will face West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.

"See you soon Manchester United," Leon said on X, formerly known as Twitter, alongside a graphic of him in an airport showing that he is heading for M16.

Leon travelled to Manchester on Tuesday and spoke to local journalists before his flight. “The sensations are inexplicable. You feel so many things," he said.

"The truth is, I’m very happy, very happy to be there. I think every player dreams of this, and I have the opportunity.

“Thank God for the opportunity. I think it was a bit quick too, but hey, you have to adapt quickly once you’re there. I’m already a professional. You have to adapt quickly.

“I’ll have to adapt a bit to the climate, the language, and all that. I have a lot of confidence in myself. I’m going to be at the top with them. Now with the faith intact that I can succeed.”
