Man Utd believe asking price for Jason Wilcox target will be slashed by£50m this summer,'Market opportunity…'- Journalist

Manchester United have grand plans this summer, with the transfer window still in the early stages.

Despite growing frustrations around the fanbase, Manchester United will be pleased with the first month of the transfer window.

Matheus Cunha was signed by United on June 1st, with the Brazilian a massive coup for the club adding plenty of goals and creativity to Ruben Amorim’s side.

Cunha is one of the Premier League’s best attackers, ranking alongside Cole Palmer and Mohamed Salah as three of the four most dangerous forwards in the league. The other of the four is Bryan Mbeumo, who is expected to be playing at the Theatre of Dreams next season.

United remains close to signing Mbeumo with the Cameroonian dreaming of pulling on the red of Manchester United.

Once Mbeumo arrives, United still have four positions to strengthen. Among them is the right wing-back role, with another domestic target being considered.

Tyler Dibling’s £100m asking price is likely to be slashed by half

This summer has seen a clear shift in the transfer plans of Manchester United. Amorim has asked for Premier League-proven signings to raise the physical levels within his squad.

Cunha and Mbeumo are clear successes in this, with the rest of this summer’s business set to take a similar shape. For the right wing-back role, exciting options exist and now Ben Jacobs has pinpointed Tyler Dibling as one to watch.

Speaking to The United Stand, Jacobs explained that right wing-back is a position for later in the window, before outlining that Dibling could be a cheaper-than-expected target.

“I think later in the window there is a chance the right side is strengthened by United and there are market opportunities out there. Tyler Dibling is a player Jason Wilcox really appreciates and now he is running the show. Tottenham will likely be there for Dibling as well.

“I say market opportunity and I stress those words because you’ll hear a lot of ‘Dibling not for sale’ or ‘Dibling is a £100m player’, but the perspective of clubs who are interested in Dibling is that in a few weeks time, Southampton will drop their asking price to below £50m. Tottenham believe it could be as low as £40m, so that would be money United need to find.”

United were quoted £100m for Dibling earlier this year, but with the Saints’ relegation, they lost all cards in negotiating.

Dibling is considered ‘really special’ and Wilcox is known to be a big fan of him and would be keen to bring him to Old Trafford this summer, and it would be an exciting addition.

Manchester United should push for Dibling signing if price is slashed

Signing Dibling for £100m would have been a terrible idea by Ineos and likely seen him the solitary attacking midfield addition this summer. However, with Cunha and Mbeumo already signed, Dibling for as low as £40m looks like an excellent deal.

The England youth international would provide options for Amorim in both the wing-back position and also in the attacking midfield.

In neither of these roles would he arrive as an instant starter, but would have top-tier players to learn from and have the pressure taken from him, which is what United has lacked for young players in recent years.

Raphael Varane highlighted United’s need for top-class senior players to be in the squad ahead of youngsters in order to help wonderkids fulfill their potential, and Dibling would have that at United this summer.

Therefore, for cheap, Dibling would be an excellent addition and United should be in the race if finances allow.
