Warriors 'Carefully Evaluating' Options For Jonathan Kuminga This Offseason

It has been an underwhelming offseason thus far for the Golden State Warriors as the only moves they have made came during their two selections in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.

In the draft, the Warriors selected Alex Toohey and Will Richard in the second round as they add more young talent to their roster.

Despite this, many expected Golden State to be active in free agency to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, but that has not been the case thus far.

Of course, Golden State is still awaiting Jonathan Kuminga’s decision on whether he wants to return to the team next season despite his unknown role or leave via a likely sign-and-trade in free agency.

With the Warriors still waiting on Kuminga, it has haltered their process in free agency but it is clear that Kuminga’s decision is a massive one for the future of the Warriors.

According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the Warriors are “carefully evaluating” all options regarding Kuminga.

“The Warriors are taking their time when it comes to Jonathan Kuminga because they are leaving all of their options open, including potential paths to add another superstar down the line,” Siegel wrote. “What happens with Kuminga has a direct impact on the team’s status as a contending threat.”

This is a major report by Siegel and one that is not a surprising one as Kuminga is one of the key pieces of Golden State’s future whether he is on the roster or traded for another star.

“This is relevant for both the “now” and the “post-Curry” era, which is why all options are being carefully evaluated,” Siegel added.

While the Warriors continue to evaluate the options for Kuminga, they have already seen many top targets for them get away and they are currently running out of options to upgrade their roster as they await his decision.
