Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has hailed Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak before making a very interesting claim about his future.
The 25-year-old will forever be linked with a move away from Newcastle United, even though no club has the money to get him out of St James’ Park.
Newcastle plan to keep Alexander Isak, despite interest from Liverpool and Arsenal. While there has been a lot of chatter in the media, Liverpool have not even spoken to Newcastle about Isak.
The Magpies are lucky to have Isak, at a time when so many Premier League clubs are looking for strikers. Proven goalscorers are few and far between, with Chelsea another club who are addressing their forward options.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink knows Chelsea will not sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United
The Blues have brought in Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, two players who are not guaranteed to score the goals that Enzo Maresca needs. In contrast, Isak would do just that, but former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink knows that the Sweden international is not heading to Stamford Bridge.
“If he [Isak] leaves Newcastle, I think he will only go to one club,” he told The Obi One Podcast.
“Unfortunately it’s not Chelsea. He supports, apparently, one club that he wants to go to.
“I love Isak. I think he is magnificent. Honestly magnificent.”

Hasselbaink has suggested there is one club that Isak wants to join, but did not reveal their identity. All the while, Newcastle intend to extend Isak’s contract, which will definitively end talk of a move away.
What happened when Chelsea tried to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in 2024
Everyone associated with Chelsea, including Hasselbaink, would love to have Isak at Stamford Bridge.
That is something that they tried to make reality in 2024, at a time when Newcastle United were scrambling to comply with PSR.
Sensing an opportunity, Chelsea enquired about Isak before 30th June 2024. They were swiftly told where to go by the Magpies, who had absolutely no interest in selling Isak despite their dire financial situation. Newcastle were not selling Isak under any circumstances, as they managed to find another way to comply with PSR.
Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh were sold to Nottingham Forest and Brighton respectively, while Dan Ashworth’s move to Manchester United was pushed through. Those deals brought in enough money, meaning there was no need for a major name to depart St James’ Park.
But even if things had gotten that desperate, Isak was not the star they were going to cash in on. He was considered indispensable, and that remains the case.
