Bronny James is looking ahead to his second season in the NBA — and not so much paying attention to what his father LeBron’s plans are.

As the elder James prepares for his league-record 23rd season, Bronny candidly told reporters on Wednesday, July 2 that they aren’t discussing the details.

"We don't really talk about it much," Bronny, 20, said. "I think when stuff like that does come up, he just tells me to not worry about it, to not even pay attention to it [and] just lock into what you have going on right now. And that's what's going to get me better and to keep me focused. I think it's good that he tells me to not pay attention to that stuff."

The father and son made NBA history last season by becoming the first such duo to play together on the same team.

And while LeBron announced over the weekend that he was exercising his $52.6 million player option for the coming season, James’ agent Rich Paul told ESPN that the future Hall of Famer would be monitoring the team’s offseason moves before a decision is made to stay with the Lakers.

"We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future," Paul told ESPN. "We do want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career. He wants to make every season he has left count, and the Lakers understand that, are supportive and want what's best for him."

The 40-year-old superstar has long credited his family for their support throughout his career.

Over the weekend, however, James was overheard discussing his next steps in the NBA in a recording making the rounds online, and he spoke about his wife's wishes.
