West Ham United will take on Chelsea in their first home game of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, but the match looks set to be moved.

West Ham are yet to make any additions in the window so far, following on from their disappointing 14th-placed finish.

Potential PSR concerns could be a reason why Graham Potter has not received any reinforcements for his squad, with fans beginning to grow anxious in E20.

Furthermore, key players such as Mohammed Kudus could be leaving the London Stadium, with multiple clubs interested in the Ghanaian.

Despite this, anticipation begins to build for the new season, particularly when the fixtures are released. However, the Chelsea fixture now looks likely to be brought forward slightly.

West Ham vs Chelsea fixture to be moved after Sky Sports request

West Ham are set to take on London rivals Chelsea on the second weekend of the new Premier League campaign.

The game was originally scheduled to take place the following day, but the Daily Mail reports (2 July) it is now set to be staged on 22 August after Sky Sports picked it for one of their televised matches.

The game will now kick off at a later time of 8pm, leading to potential concerns given the history between the two fanbases.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, former PGMOL chief Hackett said he expects the Hammers to have already held talks with the Metropolitan Police.

“Sky pay the big bucks and determine what games are going to be screened and when,” Hackett said.

“It really is down to the clubs and, in particular, the home club to ensure the appropriate levels of security are in place both outside and inside the stadium.

“The police will have been consulted along with Transport for London. They will increase stewarding and policing on the underground and other transport systems.

“*Let’s hope that we are discussing what takes place on the field of play, not off it.*”

Positive start to next season crucial for Potter

If Potter wants to keep his West Ham job, then starting next season on a positive note is vital.

A win on a Friday night under the floodlights against their rivals provides the perfect opportunity to give West Ham some much-needed momentum early in the new season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United will likely improve next season, and if West Ham are not careful, they could slide down the Premier League table even further.
