Everton have been linked with a move to secure the services of Sao Paulo’s highly-rated talent Lucas Ferreira.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed the 19-year-old’s fitness and suitability for the Premier League.

The right winger has yet to find the back of the net in the Brazilian Serie A this season despite playing 12 games.

Ferreira not expected to be first-team ready for next season

The Brazilian is not expected to be first-team ready even if he signs for the Toffees this summer, according to Dr Brar.

Everton have contacted Ferreira’s agent to gauge his availability in the current transfer window. (Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola on 21 June)

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Ferreira: “He has played regularly in recent weeks and has not faced any injury issues.

“That’s impressive, undoubtedly, but he’s not expected to be ready for the first team should he move to the Premier League.

“*It may take him a whole season before he’s adapted completely, given his age and lack of experience at the top level.*“

Everton should consider Ferreira as one for the future

Everton should sign Ferreira for his immense potential, but they shouldn’t expect him to be first-team ready immediately.

The 19-year-old has made 22 senior appearances for Sao Paulo since January 2025, but has not been tested outside Brazil.

His dribbling ability, compared to Douglas Costa, and left-footed flair make him a promising long-term investment for David Moyes’ attacking rebuild.

However, with only 754 Serie A minutes and limited senior experience, he’s raw and likely needs a loan spell to adapt to the Premier League’s intensity.

Everton’s focus on youth aligns with Ferreira’s profile, but his immediate impact would be limited, making him a developmental prospect rather than an instant starter.
