Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has insisted he is not 'vengeful' after leaving Juventus last December and being without a club until this summer.
Pogba's contract at the Turin club was cancelled by mutual consent while the Frenchman was serving the final few months of his suspension after testing positive for a banned substance. The 32-year-old was free to resume his professional football career in March 2025 but despite plenty of rumours, he was unable to find a new club.
That was until this summer when he completed a move to Champions League club AS Monaco. When asked if he felt any ill will towards Juve for the manner in which his time there ended, Pogba dismissed the suggestion.
"I’m not vengeful," he replied in his unveiling press conference. "I’m grateful because it helped me to grow, it helped me see real life and what can happen in life.
"I’ve got no revenge to take on anyone, I’m just happy to be back on the pitch and do what I enjoy the most in the world. Juve is still in my heart.
"Lots of things happened, some things were good, others less good. (Andrea) Agnelli, the president, sent me text messages that were supportive.
"When I didn’t receive it, that was different. I’ve always loved Juve, I will always love it, but the past is the past, I don’t want to talk about a war, there’s no war."
In content shared on social media, Pogba was visibly emotional as he signed his two-year deal in the principality. Addressing that moment, the midfielder explained: "It’s true you saw a lot of emotion.
"It’s very rare to see me cry like that, so I hope you enjoyed it. A lot of images came into my head.
"The story of doping, injuries, and so on, to come back and sign for a club that believed in me. It was all that came back when I was signing the contract.
"I couldn’t hold back. It was a moment of joy, too, and that’s what was important for me."
