TRIBUTES have been paid by Bridport Football Cub after the tragic death of two footballers earlier today.

Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota has died in a car crash in Spain after a Lamborghini he was travelling in veered off the road and burst into flames following a suspected tyre blowout.

Tributes from the football world and beyond flooded in for the 28-year-old father of three, who had married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso just 11 days ago.

Jota was found dead alongside his brother André Silva - who was also a professional footballer - following the crash on the A-52 in Palacios de Sanabria near the city of Zamora at 12.40am on Thursday.

Bridport FC chairman Adrian Scadding paid his respects to the brothers in a club statement.

He said: "Everyone at Bridport Football Club is deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.

"Diogo was a talented player in his prime, with so much ahead of him. We have lost two members of the football community far too soon.

"Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and all affected at this difficult time."
