NORTH Wales' Neco Williams has paid tribute to a former team-mate who has died.

The football world has today been rocked by the news of Diogo Jota's death.

His brother, Andre - who was also a footballer - was also killed in the crash on the Rias Bajas Highway (A-52) near Palacios de Sanabria, heading towards Benavente.

The accident is believed to have occurred at approximately 00:40 a.m. local time (11:40 p.m. UK time last night).

El Mundo reports the car came off the road and caught fire, with emergency services confirming the two deaths at the scene.

Wales star Williams, who now plays club football for Nottingham Forest, is a former team-mate of attacker Jota, with the pair having played together at Liverpool FC.

The trusty TransferMarkt website shows that the pair played 11 times alongside one another for the club between 2020 and 2022.

Williams has taken to X (formerly Twitter) today to post a tribute to Jota.

Sharing a selfie of the pair together, he wrote; "One of the really good people out there. Rest in peace Diogo and André Silva condolences to their families at this time."
