Report: Everton face West Ham battle after club inform both £21m 'game-changer' is up for sale…

Everton look set to strengthen their attack with the addition of Thierno Barry from Villarreal.

Now it is time for David Moyes and his recruitment staff to turn their attention elsewhere with plenty of areas needing to be improved.

A huge summer is in store for Everton fans, who will be expecting the Friedkins to open their wallets and show some ambition.

Everton have strategically waited for the new PSR window in July before really diving into the market.

Although that has proven a smart financial decision, it has also given Angus Kinnear a lot of catching up to do.

Numerous players have departed Finch Farm at the end of their deals and Everton are now looking to improve their midfield options for Moyes.

Everton showing interest in Genoa’s Morten Frendrup

Idrissa Gana Gueye could still stay at Everton, with the Senegal international yet to decide on his new contract offer.

Regardless, midfielders are needed this summer with the options left stretched by Orel Mangala’s injury last season.

According to TalkSPORT, Everton are eyeing a move for Morten Frendrup alongside the likes of West Ham United.

Genoa are believed to be open to selling the Denmark international this summer if they receive a €25m (£21m) bid.

Alongside Frendrup, it is claimed Everton hold an interest in Sean Longstaff and Wilfred Ndidi.

Everton will offer Harrison Armstrong an opportunity in pre-season, yet it is clear Kinnear is also looking to bring in some reinforcements.

This is a summer like no other on Merseyside as Everton fans are being promised a new dawn under the Friedkins, but a lot of work still needs to be done.

Morten Frendrup idolised Steven Gerrard growing up

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claims Frendrup’s childhood idol was Steven Gerrard having grown up watching Premier League football.

Despite this, Everton could land a real addition with the Dane who has impressed during his three years in Serie A with Genoa.

“Morten is a player who can play anywhere,” said his former coach Alberto Gilardino.

“He has dynamism, he has great speed in his first few steps, he is a ball-winner and a game-changer. He’s just a very reliable player.”

Although Everton are hopeful Gueye will sign a new contract, praise like this could well suggest Frendrup has the ability to be the Senegal international’s long-term replacement.
