A deal to take Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea is nearing completion, the Bundesliga club confirmed on Thursday.

Gittens, 20, was close to making the move prior to the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, but the two clubs could not reach an agreement. Now all that is left to iron out are the contractual details.
"The talks with Chelsea were challenging, but ultimately we are satisfied that we will, in all likelihood, be able to meet our financial requirements and have planning security," said Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
"Jamie is an outstanding player who has given us a lot of pleasure. He now wants to take the next step in his career at Chelsea, and we wish him all the best and every success."
Gittens, who joined Dortmund from the Manchester City academy in September 2020, has made 107 competitive appearances for the five-time Bundesliga winners, contributing 17 goals and 14 assists.
The 2024/25 season was his most productive yet, the England U21 international winger registering 17 goal involvements across 49 matches in all competitions.
"Jamie Gittens' career is a great example of our player development. We discovered Jamie very early on, signed him for next to nothing, continuously developed him in our youth academy and also gave him playing time at the very highest level with the senior team," commented Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken.
"Jamie has repaid the trust placed in him with commitment, performance and goals. His transfer back to his native England would be extremely valuable for us. We wish Jamie all the very best for his sporting future."
