Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan signs three-year extension

The Pittsburgh Steelers have extended general manager Omar Khan on a new three-year agreement that will go through the 2028 season and the 2029 NFL Draft, the team announced on Thursday.

Khan, who became the team’s general manager in 2022 after longtime general manager Kevin Colbert retired, signed a four-year agreement then through the 2026 NFL Draft, and this now keeps Khan at the helm of the team’s leadership.

Over the last four seasons with Khan as the general manager, the Steelers have seen their focus shift from a conservative style of management to an aggressive, go-getter type of leadership. Khan’s leadership has broken Steelers tradition and conservative though that was prevalent throughout much of the 2010s.

During that time, the Steelers have made two playoff appearances, but have yet to break their dry spell of playoff success.

Khan joined the Steelers organization in 2001 as their Football Administration Coordinator at the age of 24 and has steadily risen through the ranks, ultimately becoming their general manager.

During his time with the team, the Steelers have won two Super Bowls and had countless other playoff successes. Before he was their general manager, Khan was known as the team’s cap guru, and still maintains a heavy hand in that role and space as general manager.
