As one of the biggest and most famous clubs in world football, Manchester United have had their fair share of legends over the decades.
From the icons of yesteryear like Sir Bobby Charlton to contemporary heroes like Roy Keane and Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United fans of every generation have been spoiled for choice.
Man United had a particularly strong defence for much of the 2000s and early 2010s, with Nemanja Vidic making a name for himself as one of the world’s best.
Now, Vidic has made an admission about his time at Man United – namely, what he did after a cup final – that wowed Gary Neville.

Nemanja Vidic says he feels he ‘didn’t deserve’ 2005/06 League Cup medal
Vidic is the latest guest on The Overlap, with Neville firing a number of quickfire questions at him regarding his career and life.
One question Neville asked Vidic was about the time he gave his 2005/06 League Cup winners’ medal to former teammate Giuseppe Rossi.
“Yeah,” Vidic confirmed. “Because I just played 15 minutes, so I felt that I didn’t deserve it. And I think Giuseppe played, like, two or three games.”
Neville said: “Wow… that’s kind, that.”
Vidic continued: “You know, you have a medal but you didn’t have five minutes playing in the game, I didn’t feel like it was mine. That’s how I felt.”
Neville concluded: “It says a lot about you though!”

What Giuseppe Rossi said about Nemanja Vidic giving him his 2006 League Cup medal
Rossi was not involved in the League Cup final and was denied a place on the podium despite starting the first three games of Man United’s run to the showpiece encounter.
However, Vidic pulled Rossi aside after the 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic at the Millennium Stadium and gave the Italian his medal.
“Nemanja told me I deserved it more than him,” Rossi told the Manchester Evening News in 2017.
“I was shocked because I wasn’t expecting that, but that’s another story I won’t forget from my United days.”
