'New round of talks': Arsenal have been pushing for £50m attacker 'in recent hours', he could be open to move - Romano

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their attacking ranks this summer and they have a number of players in their sights.

While Alexander Isak is Arsenal’s dream target, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres have been the two attackers most strongly linked to Arsenal as of late.

However, as well as signing a new striker, Arsenal are also in the market for a high-quality winger.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Gunners’ pursuit of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.

Arsenal held new round of talks over Noni Madueke

Romano took to X on Thursday night to report that Arsenal have held a new round of talks for Madueke as they feel he “could be open to the move”.

The transfer insider stressed that nothing is advanced yet, and that the deal is separate from the Eberechi Eze deal, but the Gunners are maintaining contacts.

Romano went on to elaborate in his YouTube video, saying: “I’m told that in the recent hours, contacts are taking place again with the camp of Noni Madueke.

“Just to give you my feeling, when people close to the player continue to meet the club, means that – and that’s my information – the player could be open to a potential switch to Arsenal.

“It doesn’t mean that Madueke wants to leave Chelsea, it doesn’t mean that Madueke is done at Chelsea or is leaving 100 percent.

“It just means that Noni Madueke has opened doors to a potential move to Arsenal.

“Then it depends on what Arsenal want to do, what Arsenal can offer, what Arsenal want to offer because at the moment there is no official bid, no concrete negotiation yet.”

Arsenal are also keen on Rodrygo from Real Madrid, which shows that Andrea Berta is spinning plenty of plates at present.

What Noni Madueke has already said about Arsenal and Bukayo Saka

Madueke has shown respect to Arsenal in the past, singing their praises – whilst still wanting to maintain a competitive edge – last year.

Madueke showed his admiration for Arsenal in November 2024 by calling the Gunners a “great team” ahead of a London derby between the two sides in the Premier League.

“They’re still a great team and they’ve challenged for the title for the last couple of years… in terms of us, we are just going to prepare for this as we do any other match,” said Madueke.

“There’s always a little bit of bragging rights with the boys but I’m going into Sunday trying to win for sure…but there’s always that added rivalry when you play with them for the national team as well.”

Madueke also sung Bukayo Saka’s praises, adding: “Even as an academy player, the north London derbies were always super competitive.

“Bukayo was always a great player. He was a goal threat, fast, strong and always made the right decisions – just like he does now.”

Madueke is thought to be valued at around £50million this summer. And he has won plenty of plaudits, suggesting he could do a job for Arsenal.

For instance, Mauricio Pochettino is a fan of Madueke, calling him “unbelievable”. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde once named Madueke as one of his toughest opponents.
