All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as the summer hots up.
Arsenal are now stepping up their transfer business already in the throws of what will be a busy summer for Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta. The Gunners need a number of new signings, while they are also likely to trim away some of the players who are not high in the pecking order.
The Gunners still need to find themselves a new striker, and getting a striker deal over the line must become a priority over the coming weeks. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.
Eze boost
Arsenal could get a cheaper Eberechi Eze deal with the help of a potential swap deal this summer. The Gunners have been tipped to make a move for Eze as they look to add a winger who can also play the number 10 role.
Eze has a release clause worth up to £68million, which would be a very big investment from the Gunners, but according to GiveMeSport, there may be a way to reduce the fee. It’s claimed Palace are interested in a potential player-plus-cash deal depending on who Arsenal are willing to offer. There is no mention of possible players, but Jakub Kiwior would make the most sense given Palace need to replace Marc Guehi, who is expected to leave.
Lookman asking price
Another attacker Arsenal are reportedly considering is Atalanta frontman Ademola Lookman, who would provide depth across the front line, able to play out wide and up top.
According to Corriere della Serra, Arsenal have now been told how much they would have to pay to pull off a deal. It’s claimed Atalanta want £52million for Lookman, and they are said to be open to sale. Other options like Rodrygo are likely to cost significantly more than that, making Lookman a potential option.
Ornstein on winger signings
David Ornstein believes Gabriel Martinelli is likely to be the pivotal point when it comes to Arsenal signing a big-money winger this summer. He said on The Athletic FC podcast: “Arsenal are spinning multiple plates and working on the various positions. We know the number nine is the priority for them and then they’ve always wanted to strengthen on the left wing but they’ve got Gabriel Martinelli, a very fine player there already. If he was to leave, then you could see them maybe bringing in a top left-sided winger.
“If he’s not to leave, then I don’t think so. We’ve talked and reported on the likes of Rodrygo and Anthony Gordon. I think that’s if Martinelli leaves. I don’t necessarily think that that’s if he was to stay. Whereas you could look at somebody like Noni Madueke who could come in and be that back up to Saka on the right. He could be an option on the left potentially even if Martinelli stayed.
“And then you’ve got they’re looking at things inside, the likes of Eze, it’s been well reported, and Morgan Rogers, and there are loads of names. James [McNicholas] listed them in the deal sheet this week, so I’m not putting any order on them.”
