'You never know': Jack Grealish tipped to do something totally unexpected at Man City

The future of Jack Grealish at Manchester City remains up in the air.

The 29-year-old experienced his worst season at the Etihad Stadium last time around as the winger fell down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order, starting in just one of City’s last 21 Premier League matches.

How the legendary coach feels about the Englishman became clear this summer, as Grealish was left out of the Man City squad that travelled to the FIFA Club World Cup.

The winger is expected to leave the Manchester club before the new Premier League season gets underway in August, although Man City hoped to have Grealish gone before pre-season; however, Gabriel Agbonlahor has hinted that the player may be about to do something unexpected.

Jack Grealish could stay at Manchester City

Guardiola all but confirmed Grealish’s Man City exit ahead of the Premier League club’s match with Al-Hilal this week, as it is clear that there is no way back for the 29-year-old at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite this, Agbonlahor has hinted that Grealish could stay at Man City and fight for his place next season, which may be due to the lack of interest in the winger.

“I’m not sure, mate,” a laughing Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT when asked where Grealish is going. “I’ve no idea, Alan. You never know, he might end up staying and fighting for his place. You never know.”

It is unclear if Guardiola would even allow this, as the Man City boss will not want anyone he doesn’t have plans for around his squad heading into the new Premier League season.

Grealish has already accepted that his Man City career is over, and this attitude should not change, as trying to fight for a place at the Manchester club could be disastrous for the player’s career.

Jack Grealish needs to leave Manchester City

Grealish can sit on the sidelines and collect his paycheck every week if he wants in Manchester; however, if the winger has ambitions to play with England at the FIFA World Cup next summer, the 29-year-old needs to leave Man City ahead of the new season.

There are not many clubs in the race for the Englishman, given the finances involved, but Everton is an option for Grealish if he is willing to join the Toffees on loan.

Jack Grealish’s career at Man City

This would be a great move for the player, as it would keep him in the Premier League and in the mind of England boss Thomas Tuchel, while David Moyes could be the perfect manager to get the Man City star’s career back on track.

The next few weeks could be crucial to the career of Grealish, and the player will be hoping more clubs show interest in his talent. Whatever happens, the 29-year-old needs to leave, as staying at Man City is only going to go one way.
