Performing on the world stage is a chance for players in other continents to put themselves on the map in Europe.
Usually, this comes in the World Cup with the tournament usually leading to a breakout player who earns a big move, but this summer the Club World Cup could present similar opportunities.
This means Manchester United will have scouts at the tournament, looking out for talented players available for relatively cheap and a handful of options have so far emerged.
United have been watching Richard Rios in action over the past month as he has lit up the competition for Palmeiras who face Chelsea this weekend in the quarter-final.
Rios would be an excellent midfield addition, and would likely only cost in the region of £25m which could pan out to be a complete bargain.
However, there is another midfielder likely cheaper who caught the eye recently with an impressive outing against Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United should consider move for Nelson Deossa
Despite being knocked out by Dortmund, CF Monterrey midfielder Nelson Deossa caught the eye with a big performance against elite European competition.
Deossa dominated the midfield, outshining Jobe Bellingham with his display that demonstrated several key qualities that United desperately need in the midfield this summer.

The 25-year-old had 77 touches but completed four dribbles and won 11 duels in the game which shows he is an all-action box-to-box number eight.
Throughout the entire tournament, Deossa’s numbers show he was one of the standout players and will surely have caught the eye of clubs in Europe.

As seen in his statistics, Deossa is very well-rounded but excels in his defensive contribution and also in his ball carrying.
Physically, Deossa’s profile is what United are looking for with Amorim wanting an athletic midfielder this summer. He has long legs which see him able to win tackles with ease but also makes his ball carrying a big threat to the opposition.

Despite Amorim backing Manuel Ugarte to succeed next season, a new midfielder is still needed, if only to bolster the ranks.
So with this in mind, it would make sense that the chosen midfielder would be cheap and willing to come in to play a squad role at Old Trafford.
Deossa has a market value of just £5.9m which means he won’t cost much more based on a handful of games, but he is definitely worth a punt in midfield.
A similar target would be Wilfred Ndidi, but Deossa’s advantage will be that the Leicester star demands a massive wage packet which won’t sit well with Ineos.
