Arsenal’s Takehiro Tomiyasu is set to leave the club by mutual consent after agreeing to terminate his contract, according to reports.

Hand of Arsenal reported on Thursday night that Arsenal have been in discussions with Takehiro Tomiyasu’s camp over a mutual agreement to part ways.
Sami Mokbel of the BBC then took the story one step further on Friday morning, writing that Tomiyasu has actually already reached a termination agreement, finalising a settlement early last month.
Tomiyasu’s Arsenal contract was only set to expire in 2026, and given the player is currently sidelined through injury, it was expected he’d remain at the club this summer. But it seems both parties have agreed to end his spell early.

Charles Watts confirms that Arsenal have come to an agreement with Tomiyasu for an early contract termination, and an announcement is expected soon.
Hand of Arsenal’s original report added that clubs from Saudi Arabia made contact with the player’s agency on Wednesday, so perhaps that’s where his next move might lie.
For the time being, Tomiyasu is still working on his injury comeback, with at least another four or five months until he’s ready to start playing again.

Tomiyasu will leave Arsenal with 84 appearances under his belt. The right-back’s busiest season was 2022/23, when he played 31 times, but he only managed to make it onto the pitch once in 2024/25.
At 26 years old, it’s still very possible for the Japan international to return to regular action and hit his old performance levels again.
A top professional and a popular member of Mikel Arteta’s squad, we wish him all the best with that goal. It’s just not going to happen at Arsenal.
