Popular comedian and Arsenal fan Jack Whitehall has urged Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon to make the switch to Arsenal after being linked with a big-money move in recent months.
Over the last few days, there has been a lot of focus on the arrivals at Newcastle United. After a new bid was placed on Thursday, Anthony Elanga’s Newcastle move is close to completion. The Magpies have offered £55m to Nottingham Forest for the winger, a fee which they are believed to be happy with.
Elsewhere, James Trafford’s move to Newcastle could also be completed soon, giving Howe two new players ahead of pre-season.
However, there is still a focus on selling players to keep the wage bill low. The futures of several players have been called into question this summer, with the likes of Alexander Isak attracting serious interest from Liverpool. Despite their admiration, it is unlikely that the Swede will leave Newcastle this summer.
Sean Longstaff has attracted interest from Leeds United, while the likes of Isaac Hayden and Matt Targett are free to leave the Magpies this summer. Over the last 12 months, Anthony Gordon has been linked with a move away, and Jack Whitehall has jokingly urged him to join Arsenal after a surprise meeting at Wimbledon.

After a slow end to the season, Gordon will likely be disappointed with how he performed with the Magpies during the 2024/25 campaign. The England international kept his place in the starting XI until he was sent off in Newcastle’s FA Cup defeat to Brighton. An injury during that suspension allowed Harvey Barnes to regain his place in the starting line-up and fire in several goals.
Gordon eventually recaptured a place in the starting XI, but did not make the most of it as he looked off the pace in comparison to his teammates. After performing well against them last season, Gordon has attracted interest from Arsenal, who are looking for a new winger this summer.
Reports suggest they are interested in signing Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, but Gordon would be their ideal transfer after he scored twice and bagged an assist in three games against them last season.

Whitehall, a passionate Arsenal fan, found himself sitting next to Gordon at the Wimbledon tennis championships on Thursday. The 36-year-old shared a picture of the pair together on his Instagram story, with a caption saying: “Spent most of the Djokovic match telling this guy how good he’d look in red.”
The comedian was most likely joking with his caption, but there may have been the odd passing comment from time to time. Gordon is due to report back to pre-season training with Newcastle later this month after enjoying some well-deserved time off.

Gordon nearly left Newcastle for Liverpool in 2024. The Magpies discussed a move for him while they were searching for ways to relieve their PSR troubles before the deadline. In the end, Newcastle reluctantly sold Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to avoid a points deduction.
Despite the interest, Geordie Boot Boys have been informed the only word about Gordon is that he is not going anywhere. The 24-year-old signed a new deal with Newcastle last October, keeping him at the club for the next several years.
Newcastle do not expect the winger to leave this summer, with Eddie Howe seeing him as a big part of his plans next season. A return to the Champions League is a big reason why he is likely to stay – the same goes for Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.
After starring in the third kit reveal, Gordon hinted he will be at Newcastle for a third season on social media, much to the delight of fans.
