A change in management can often bring surprising results and changes few had seen coming. Jannik Vestergaard is certainly one that comes to mind in that scenario. He shows his brilliance at the international level. For some reason, he seems to have a love or hate relationship with different Leicester managers coming and going.
Looking back to when Enzo Maresca came in, you heard a lot of talk. There was much discussion about players coming and going. Kasey McAteer and Wanya Marcal were players coming into the frame early on and made an impact.
So what really happened to the squad Dean Smith and his interim regime left behind. We have examined the various events associated with the current rumours. These rumours are about players departing.
The squad had the following set up at the end of the time relegation was confirmed. Goalkeepers, Daniel Iversen, Danny Ward, Alex Smithies and Jacub Stolarczyk. Defenders, Caglar Soyuncu, Jannik Vestergaard, Wout Faes, James Justin, Victor Kristiansen, Jonny Evans, Harry Souttar, Daniel Amartey, Ricardo Pereira, Timothy Castagne, Luke Thomas, Lewis Brunt. Midfield, Youri Tielemans, James Maddison, Marc Albrighton, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Nampalys Mendy, Wilfried Ndidi, Dennis Praet, Hamza Choudhury, Bouba Soumare, Sammy Braybrooke, Will Alves, Kasey McAteer. Forwards, Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka, Ayoze Perez.
Alex Smithies, Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans, Daniel Amartey, Youri Tielemans, Nampalys Mendy and Ayoze Perez were all out of contract and moved on as free agents. Luke Thomas, Daniel Iversen, Bouba Soumare, Victor Kristiansen and Lewis Brunt went out on loan. Timothy Castagne, James Maddison and Harvey Barnes were sold.
There were a lot of changes happening, but still many players stayed and only three major sales done. This cold be something to learn from when going into a new season with hopes of a straight promotion. Leicester made some shrewd business over the summer. Conor Coady, Tom Cannon, Harry Winks, Stephy Mavididi, Abdul Fatawu (loan with obligation to buy) and Mads Hermansen were all added, all contributing well in that promotion push. Loan signings Yunus Akgun, Callum Doyle and Cesare Casadei also had their impact.
🇩🇰🚨 Mads Hermansen (24) & Victor Kristiansen (22) could leave Leicester City this summer!
Di Marzio told Tipsbladet that there may be something going on: Mads Hermansen could be on his way to join West Ham United. The Hammers are reportedly interested in signing him.

What we learned from this was that we might see a major sale or two from the club during July. Mads Hermansen, and Bilal El Khannouss are two likely departures, but to keep them would be even better. They are both on long term deals.
Viktor Kristiansen and Wout Faes are other player who Leicester could part company with, both being linked away to other clubs.
Wilfred Ndidi looks to be a wanted man, but his presence at Leicester is huge. He is very well settled in the area and have a long term deal. To see him move abroad would be a massive surprise. Everton and Man Utd are keen on him, according to different outlets. Hopefully, he will be staying at the club.
The release list of players were not as major as the one two years ago. Danny Ward, Daniel Iversen and Jamie Vardy were the three players out of contract. We all know that there are a number of players out of contract next summer. That is life in football. The club must sort that out as they did after their promotion a year ago.
A lot of talk among supporters suggests this and that, but it’s all taken out of context. Claudio Ranieri and N’Golo Kantè both arrived late in the 5000/1 season. Ranieri appointed mid July, Kantè arriving in August after the season had started. The season before Esteban Cambiasso was also a late arrival. All became very important for the season outcome.
What is important is the pattern in play, how different players will be set up and what the club needs to do to have a certain structure becoming a winning formula. Will be interesting to see how this turns out.
We certainly believe two to four players will leave, but at this point nothing concrete about nothing, but with the players available at this point, surely the squad is more than capable of bringing good results to the camp.
