Leeds United eye move for former Arsenal man – could fill key role

Leeds United saw some players confirm their exit from the club when July began. The club made decisions on some players, whiles others controlled their own future.

Junior Firpo ran out his contract and is now a free agent this summer. The left back was offered a new deal during the season, but unfortunately, he turned it down. He was a very important part of the promotion push this season, contributing to 14 goals (four goals, 10 assists).

Daniel Farke places a lot of emphasis in his fullbacks in this team. They provide a lot of width, and directly contribute to goals. It was the reason why the Leeds boss made Jayden Bogle one of his firs signings last year. The defender is incredible on the overlap, and often finds himself on the end of chances in the box.

Firpo’s departure means the only first team left back available is Isaac Schmidt. Going off what happened last season, there is no indication to believe Daniel Farke will trust him as the full-time starter.

According to Calciomercato, Leeds are one of the clubs interested in Nuno Tavares. The Lazio left back is drawing interest from across Europe. The report suggests the Serie A side will demand around £17.25million for the former Arsenal man this summer. West Ham are also said to be in the mix.

Nuno Tavares more than capable of replacing Firpo

The Lazio star is without a doubt, one of the best fullbacks in the Serie A and Europe. His relentless running down the flank means he can dominate games with ease.

Tavares’ ball carrying is also incredible, he can move from midfield to the box with ease. His crossing is spectacular, making him able to create from many areas across the pitch. Leeds need to move fast on this opportunity.
