A CUMBRIAN football club have encouraged fans wishing to pay their respects to Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota to use the memorial garden at the club - as they express their 'deep sadness' at the news of his passing.
The footballer, 28, died along with his younger brother Andre Silva in a car crash in Spain on Thursday morning.

Many Liverpool fans have laid tributes and flowers outside of Anfield paying tribute to the Portuguese forward, as the club and its fans try to deal with the 'unimaginable loss'.

In a statement on social media, Carlisle United said: "Everyone at Carlisle United was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Liverpool player Diogo Jota and his brother Andre.
"We would like to encourage any fans who can't make it to Anfield to pay their respects, to use the memorial garden on the East side of Brunton Park, where flowers etc can be laid.

"The memorial garden is open Monday to Friday.
"Our thoughts go out to Diogo and Andre's family, friends and all those connected with Liverpool Football Club."
The deaths of Jota and his brother Andre Silva, also a professional footballer who played for Penafiel, were announced by the Portuguese Football Federation.
According to reports in Spain, the two men died after a car in which they were travelling crashed in Zamora, Spain.
The accident came less than two weeks after Jota married his long-term partner Rute Cardoso. The couple have three children together.
