Reeport: The interesting compromise Everton have privately come to in order to keep Idrissa…

Everton have already seen a number of players depart the club this summer as free agents.

David Moyes will be all too aware of the task his recruitment team face over the coming weeks in the transfer market.

It was always poised to be a huge summer for the Toffees, with the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaving Everton as a free agent.

The Friedkins have also been handed an opportunity to start afresh this summer with so many players departing.

But Everton have retained Seamus Coleman on a fresh new deal, and there is the hope that more could follow.

Everton hope to keep Idrissa Gana Gueye, with a major breakthrough now suggesting his new deal could be signed imminently.

Everton compromise to land Idrissa Gana Gueye contract breakthrough

Everton fans have been keen for Gueye to stay at the club following another solid season in the Premier League.

It has been a saga which has certainly drawn on though, with Gueye’s contract expiring on Monday.

However, according to Santi Auona, Gueye has now fully agreed to a new contract at Everton.

The deal will see him remain for the 2025/26 campaign and potentially even the following season.

Everton have inserted an optional extra year which could have Gueye playing until the age of 37 on Merseyside.

Despite Gueye’s contract seemingly imminent now, Everton are keen to add more midfielders, having lost Orel Mangala at the end of his loan.

Gueye was a key piece to Everton’s summer, but more quality is needed around him after weaknesses were on display last term.

Everton forced to compromise over Gueye’s contract

It was previously reported there was a hold-up in the talks over Gueye’s potential new contract on Merseyside.

Everton wanted to offer Gueye a one-year deal, but the midfielder wanted a multi-year offer.

Clearly, a compromise has been found between the two parties, with Gueye potentially being offered a two-year extension.

Gueye did have interest from Paris FC and clubs further afield so the Toffees have done well to keep him at the club.
