Shedeur Sanders, newly drafted quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, will most likely not be starting quarterback in the upcoming NFL season, according to renowned sports journalist Mary Kay Cabot. In Cabot’s latest article for Cleveland.com, she argues why Kenny Pickett will be the wiser option for the Browns instead of Sanders.
Kenny Pickett will be playing his very first season with the Cleveland Browns this year, after the team brought him in from a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. While this will be Pickett’s first season with the Browns, the quarterback will actually be playing in the final year of his rookie contract. When compared to Sanders, Pickett boasts a better ability to make rushing plays, which will give the Browns a stronger advantage with him as QB1.
“That will be Pickett’s superpower in that competition: the mobility that will enable the Browns to be creative and unpredictable in the return to Kevin Stefanski’s offense. With him at the helm, the Browns will not only use his legs to their advantage, but will also run the ball a lot and rely heavily on play-action. Pickett, who went 14-10 in his 24 starts in Pittsburgh, also excels at distributing the ball and letting the receivers create after the catch.” Mary Kay Cabot wrote about Kenny Pickett and Shedeur Sanders in her latest write-up for Cleveland.com.

Many NFL analysts were originally predicting that Shedeur Sanders will start for the Browns, mainly because of his rising popularity. At the same time, many came forward to warn Cleveland against giving the reins over to an inexperienced rookie like Sanders, even though he has been working really hard in the training camps.

Shedeur Sanders’ Father Blamed By Cam Newton For Bad Parenting
On another note, Shedeur Sanders’s father, Deion ‘Coach Prime’ Sanders, was recently criticized by retired NFL quarterback Cam Newton for taking too much control of his children’s lives. In a recent episode of his show, Newton discussed how the senior Sanders has to let go of the reins a little and how his over-protection is costing Shedeur Sanders his career.

During the pre-draft process, several NFL analysts exclaimed that franchises are not willing to take in Shedeur Sanders because they don’t want to deal with an over-powering father figure in Deion Sanders. Still, Shedeur Sanders seems to be coming into his own these days, training hard and performing hard for the Cleveland Browns.
