Juventus have long been linked with moves for Manchester United players, with The Old Lady having looked at Jadon Sancho, Antony and Rasmus Hojlund over the last few months.

However, Juve’s interest in Sancho goes back 12 months as the Serie A side even submitted a bid for the winger last summer.

The Italian side were looking to take Sancho on loan for the season; however, Chelsea beat them to it, even including a £25 million obligation to buy, which they pulled out of.

The Blues opted instead to pay a £5 million fine to send the former England international back to Old Trafford, opening the door once again for Juventus.

Now, Juve are fighting even harder to sign Sancho, this time on a permanent deal, seeing him move to Turin, which is reportedly his preferred destination this summer.

Whilst The Old Lady are happy to cover his £25 million fee, his wages prove to be the biggest barrier, with Sancho earning £275,000 per week with United.

The former Borussia Dortmund attacker is reportedly keen on remaining in the top five European leagues, ruling out a move to Fenerbahce, even though they appear to be the only interested party able to cover his wage demands.

However, in a bid to keep costs down, Juve have been looking at several player-swap deals for Sancho, including Dusan Vlahovic, Douglas Luiz and Tim Weah.

Now, Corriere dello Sport has reported that Juventus are revisiting a swap deal of Sancho for Luiz, putting their price tags as quite similar.

Luiz is a proven Premier League player, having dominated at Aston Villa for five years before moving to Turin last summer.

At 27-years-old, Luiz is also only a year older than the age profile the INEOS recruitment strategy is favouring, and with the Red Devils wanting a new midfielder too, it could be a good fit all round.

Ultimately though, whether Juve pay the full fee or Luiz moves to Old Trafford, the final hurdle in the deal lies with Sancho and with how much of a wage cut he’s willing to take to remain in the top leagues.
