Will Osula has played his part as Newcastle United close in on the signing of Anthony Elanga.
Few knew about the pair’s close friendship until May this year. As Osula cooked some Nigerian fufu for Alexander Isak and Joe Willock and uploaded the video to his official TikTok page, the Elanga connection emerged.
‘Where’s my invite bro?” Elanga commented, to which Osula responded: “Anytime my bro, join us.” Two months later and Elanga is indeed ‘joining’ Osula as he closes in on a £55million move to Newcastle United.
Will Osula and Anthony Elanga tease Newcastle United fans
That was the beginning of several social media interactions between the pair over the summer so far, teasing Newcastle fans with every message.
And Elanga knew it was sparking a frenzy. In response to Osula scoring a brace for Denmark against France at the Under-21s European Championship, Elanga wrote: “Not gonna say too much” before adding: “...Keep going ma boy 🔥.”
From then on, Elanga may have gone quiet with his words, but not his actions.
The 23-year-old shared photos from his holiday in Mykonos, including one picture of him playing padel in an AFC Bournemouth shirt with ‘Semenyo 14’ on the back while his partner wore NUFC’s 2024/25 home shirt.
Osula replied: “Henjoyment my boy”. Newcastle duo Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon also added to the frenzy, with Botman responding “Mykooo” and Gordon commenting “Yallaaa”, roughly translating as “let’s go”.
And in what might prove to be the last social media frenzy before Elanga moves to St James’ Park, Osula this week uploaded a TikTok of him and Elanga dancing after meeting up on holiday in Monaco.

After making a limited number of appearances during his debut season at Newcastle, Osula will be hoping the 2025-26 campaign brings more opportunities, which, in turn, would see him play alongside close mate Elanga.
As well as playing the ‘agent’ role, Osula has been training in Monaco ahead of a return to pre-season, where the Magpies face Celtic before heading to Singapore and Seoul. When returning to the UK, United host Espanyol and Atletico Madrid in a weekend double-header at St James’ Park before the Premier League opener away to Aston Villa.

Osula uploaded a short video to Instagram of him training in Monaco top with ‘Mika 14’ on the back, the shirt number of fellow Dane Mika Biereth, who started his career at Arsenal.
While off the pitch the 21-year-old has established himself as a popular figure among Newcastle fans, now is the time for him to impress on it.
Osula was restricted to just three starts last season, all of which came in cup competitions against lower league opposition. But with Callum Wilson set to depart the former Sheffield United forward is in line for more minutes this campaign.
