Aston Villa set asking price for Leeds United target – could be a bargain

Leeds United have ticked a lot of boxes across the squad this summer. Daniel Farke and the recruitment team have done a good job addressing some problem areas.

The attack finally has a new face; Lukas Nmecha will provide much needed competition for Joel Piroe. The question about who starts next season will be interesting to watch. But Piroe has said he will fight for his place.

Fullback areas remain pretty thin after the departures of Junior Firpo and Sam Byram. Firpo has confirmed he will not be returning, but it has been quiet on the Byram front so far.

Leeds will need more options at fullback, considering they are going into pre season with Isaac Schmidt and Jayden Bogle as the only first team options.

According to TEAMtalk, Aston Villa want £5million for Leeds United target Alex Moreno this summer. Unai Emery’s side are keen on offloading the Spaniard’s wages, and want to sell him as soon as possible. Villa are even willing to make a loss on his initial £12million fee in 2023.

Despite his age, the Spaniard has proven to be a solid fullback in his first two seasons in the Premier League. He has perfectly executed both roles he has been tasked with across two teams.

Under Unai Emery, he was a rampaging fullback allowed to bomb down the flanks with freedom. What made him a danger was his crossing; he could pick out a teammate from out wide with ease. But last season at Forest, he was tasked with a more conventional fullback role where he had to do a lot of defending. And he was successful for most parts.

A left back that is great in attack, and not a liability in defence at £5million is a bargain.
