The New York Jets receiver room might just be the biggest red flag for new coach Aaron Glenn as he looks to make his mark in his first season in the Big Apple.
New QB Justin Fields has Garrett Wilson and ...
Well, Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard, Tyler Johnson, Malachi Corley and Arian Smith as his weapons, and that doesn't scream good offense.
But could the Jets potentially look at trading for a receiver? Yes, we get it, Glenn shouldn't be parting ways with draft capital at this stage of the rebuild; they need all the picks they can get.
However, for Jets Wire writer Justin Melo, he's thrown up Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs as a potential option.
"General manager Darren Mougey should be monitoring opportunities to add proven assets to the position room. One could emerge in Green Bay in the form of Romeo Doubs," Melo wrote.
"The rebuilding Jets shouldn't be willing to part with draft capital … unless the player they acquire could be a long-term solution. Doubs is a 25-year-old talented receiver in a contract year. Given the current state of the Packers' wideout situation, Mougey should gauge the Packers' interest in moving Doubs."
The Jets do have the cap space, but we aren't sure if they would be willing to part ways with draft capital.
Plus, Doubs is entering the final year of his rookie deal, so would New York want to potentially trade away draft assets and pay Romeo next season if things go well?
We aren't sure on that, either.
But Doubs, in his three seasons in Green Bay, has had at least 400 receiving yards, including over 600 in his last two, plus a combined 15 touchdowns. So there is some production.
However, as far as a trade target? We aren't sure the Jets would see it as a deal worth doing.
