Comedian Jack Whitehall says he spent a huge portion of Wimbledon match acting as agent for…

**Arsenal have been casting longing glances at a couple of Newcastle United players over the past 12 months.**

Initially, it was Alexander Isak who was being relentlessly linked with a switch to the Gunners, but lately, the focus has switched to England star Anthony Gordon.

Mikel Arteta feels that Anthony Gordon would be the perfect addition to the Gunners' attack and while no approach has been made, there have been plenty of stories in the media suggesting that they are keen on Gordon, as are Liverpool who reportedly came close to a deal last summer.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have made it very clear that they will not be selling any of their top players this summer, and Gordon only signed a new contract at the club in October and is unlikely to be looking to move either.

Not happening, mate

Jack Whitehall tried his luck at convincing

That hasn't stopped cheeky comedian and Arsenal fan, Jack Whitehall, from having a go at trying to persuade Gordon into a move to the Emirates.

The pair were sat next to each other at Wimbledon on Thursday, taking in the Novak Djokovic win over British hopeful Dan Evans.

Whitehall shared a picture of himself and Gordon to his [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/jackwhitehall/) story with the caption, _“Spent most of the Djokovic match telling this guy how good he’d look in red.”_

Anthony Gordon has a huge season ahead of him at Newcastle

Shy bairns get nowt, we suppose, but we can't help feeling that he'd have been wasting his time if that was genuinely what they were talking about.

We're sure it was mentioned, but we're also confident that Gordon will have told him that it's not happening too. At least he better have!

Anthony Gordon has a big season ahead of him, not just in terms of it being a big season for Newcastle, but also that he has a fair few fans to win over after some poor performances and a perceived poor attitude last season.
