Ex-Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was overcome with emotion as he paid tribute to Diogo Jota.
Jota, 28, was killed in a road traffic accident alongside his brother Andre Silva on Thursday (July 3) when the pair were driving just north of the Portuguese border in Spain.
The pair were killed after their car left the road because of a tyre blowout that occurred while overtaking another vehicle. And tributes have flooded in from across the footballing world.
Football fans have descended upon Anfield to leave flowers, shirts and other items to pay tribute to Jota.
Henderson made the journey to Anfield on Friday, where he laid some flowers and couldn't hold back the tears. He added a note to the flowers: "Rest in peace my friend, along with your brother Andre. We will all miss you."

Henderson was Liverpool captain when Diogo Jota joined the club from Wolves back in 2020.
On Thursday, Henderson - who left Liverpool in 2023 and now plays for Dutch side Ajax - posted on Instagram: "Jota it was a pleasure to share a pitch with you but more importantly a friendship.
"All the laughs we had off the pitch and trying to find ways to wind up Milly [James Milner], which we never could. Taking pictures of me asleep on the bus travelling and then sending them to me later.

"You always wanted to have a laugh and were a pleasure to be around. Thank you for everything you brought into this world, we will all miss you."
Meanwhile, Jota's family and friends arrived at the chapel where the Liverpool star’s coffin has been taken for a private wake ahead of tomorrow’s funeral.

After returning with her partner’s body from Spain late last night.
