Manchester United are facing sponsorship issues following the launch of their new training kit, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League side agreed a multi-year deal for their training kit with Tezos in 2022, with the deal believed to be worth around £20million a year.

However, the agreement with the blockchain platform expired at the end of June, leaving Man United without a sponsor for the 2025-26 season.

The Manchester giants launched their training kit on Tuesday (1 July) without a new sponsor, creating a significant hole in their accounts for the upcoming campaign.

Sources say it’s “surprising” United haven’t been able to agree a new deal after they have traditionally been able to replace sponsors relatively easily, while often also securing uplifts on their previous agreements.

It’s viewed as another sign United – and Premier League clubs on the whole – are facing sponsorship issues as they look to boost their commercial revenue.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are still without a front-of-shirt deal for next season, having played the majority of the 2024-25 campaign without a primary shirt sponsor.

Man United hit by double sponsor blow

The training kit situation isn’t the only sponsorship issue at Old Trafford.

United have been deducted £10million by Adidas from their £90million-a-year deal after failing to qualify for the Champions League in 2024-25.

Ruben Amorim’s side finished 15th in the Premier League table, while they lost in the Europa League final to Tottenham.

Marriott International – the world’s largest hotel company – has also decided not to extend its sponsorship deal after it expired at the end of June.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Marriott’s deal is likely to have been worth £7million a year.

United posted a club-record revenue of £661.8million in 2023-24, with their commercial income making up £302.9million of that figure.

Man United close to agreeing Bryan Mbeumo deal

Amorim is hoping to strengthen his squad this summer as they look to compete at the top end of the Premier League table next season.

Former Old Trafford chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider United are close to an agreement with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo as they plan to make a third bid for his services.

The 20-time English champions are confident they will get the deal done despite seeing two bids rejected, with their latest offer worth £62.5million.

The 25-year-old registered 20 goals and nine assists in 42 appearances in the 2024-25 season.
