Ruben Amorim gets big boost in his Manchester United attack

Ruben Amorim is preparing himself for his first full season with Manchester United after inheriting a disastrous season from Erik ten Hag.

Last summer, INEOS opted to stand by ten Hag after United’s eighth place finish, only to sack him in October, replacing him with Amorim mid-season.

As such, Amorim was attacking to convert a 4-2-3-1 squad to his signature 3-4-3 set up, which was a factor for United’s worst Premier League result on record, coming 15th overall.

Now though, the Portuguese manager has a full pre-season and hopefully some more new signings to work on his system further at Old Trafford.

However, one huge boost could come from an existing Manchester United attacker.

For the second half of the season last year, Marcus Rashford went on loan to Aston Villa following a major breakdown in relationship with Ruben Amorim.

Whilst Villa held the option to buy for £40 million, a permanent move wasn’t financially possible without Champions League football due to his hefty £325,000 per week wages.

However, Rashford’s return to Old Trafford could be a major benefit to Ruben Amorim as the England international has been reported by the Daily Mail as ready to “give 100%” in training.

The 27-year-old reportedly has no issues in returning to training with Amorim, which could reignite Rashford’s United career anew.

Rashford was primarily used as a centre-forward during his time at Villa Park, a role which saw him record a 30 goal season in 2022/23.

With Rasmus Hojlund looking to be replaced as the club’s first-choice striker, Rashford’s new mentality could see him step up as the centre-forward for Amorim, especially as no striker has been signed as of yet this summer.

At this time, it’s understood that Barcelona are still looking at the attacker, and with their priority target Nico Williams signing a new contract with Athletic Club, the LaLiga champions could push harder to sign the United star.

With over a month left of the transfer window, plus United’s pre-season tour of the states, anything can happen, but hopefully this new mentality can benefit The Red Devils rather than cause issues on the training ground.
