The future of Marcus Rashford was already up in the air at the star of the week, however is even more so now if that’s even possible.

Following a bust-up with Ruben Amorim at the end of 2024, Rashford was sent out on loan to Aston Villa for the remainder of the season with a potential of making the move permanent.

Ultimately it wasn’t to be, with the 27-year-old returning to Old Trafford at the end of the season, albeit rejuvenated and with his spot in the England national side reclaimed.

However, a move from United was still on the cards, with Barcelona holding talks with Rashford’s agent, keen to sign the talented attacker.

Now, it seems that a spanner has been thrown into the works, by non-other than Rashford himself.

Previously the 27-year-old was reported to have asked to avoid going on the pre-season tour to prioritise a move away from Old Trafford.

However, The Daily Mail has now reported that Marcus Rashford is heading back to training, ready to “give 100%” to it.

Naturally, if Rashford can restore his former focus and form, it would be a massive boost for Ruben Amorim who is yet to sign a new striker to replace Rasmus Hojlund.

So, with Rashford keen to give his all in training, United are reportedly open to keep their former poster-boy, and in turn reject his prior request to skip the pre-season tour, taking him with the rest of the squad.

A strong pre-season will benefit Rashford either way, by helping him integrate into the United squad, or attracting suitors, but regardless of the outcome, it’s a step towards a little more clarity for the United veteran.
