Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on Inter Milan star after sudden £12m price drop.
United Shift Focus to Midfield with Inter Milan Man on Radar
Manchester Utd have taken a new turn in their summer transfer plans. They are now targeting midfield reinforcements over forwards.
They had a fast start to the window with the signing of Matheus Cunha for £62.5m. Ruben Amorim’s side are chasing Bryan Mbeumo as well. Now, the attention is turning to signing a midfielder. The need comes as Christian Eriksen will likely depart this window. Meanwhile, Casemiro’s form has dipped and Mason Mount remains out injured.
The Red Devils are working on a limited budget, so they’re scouting smart buys. Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi has seen his asking price drop from £42m to £30m. Given that, it is drawing immediate attention from United and Tottenham.
As per CaughtOffside, the club has contacted Inter to explore the possibility of a move. Although, no formal bids have been submitted.
Amorim Wants Midfield Depth as Competition Heats Up
Frattesi has impressed in Serie A and for Italy. But, his future at Inter now looks uncertain. The Milan club is open to selling and Man Utd are in need of depth. So, this deal could suit both parties.
Amorim wants to bring energy and consistency to a midfield that was poor last season. The club’s interest in Frattesi makes sense given the dip in performances from Casemiro and Ugarte. Though Kobbie Mainoo is expected to stay. He will be pushing for more game time. But, the midfield needs a reliable partner beside Bruno Fernandes.
Frattesi’s arrival would increase competition for that spot and possibly signal a midfield overhaul. While Tottenham are also in the race, United’s early contact shows clear intent.
The price lowered, and the player is assessing his future at the moment. So, United could bag a real gem, if they move swiftly.
