Marcus Rashford is reportedly planning to return to Manchester United for pre-season training on Monday despite his fallout with Ruben Amorim last season.
In December, Amorim made the controversial decision to drop Rashford from United's squad for the clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. The winger, along with his teammate Alejandro Garnacho, watched on as Amad starred in a shock 2-1 victory.
While Garnacho returned for the next fixture against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, Rashford remained absent with Amorim claiming that his attitude towards training was not where he needed it to be. The England international would make just one more appearance in a matchday squad before being loaned to Aston Villa for the remainder of the campaign.
In the west Midlands, Rashford was showing signs of improvement before an injury cut his season short. Since then, MEN Sport understands that United have listed the forward as being available to leave Old Trafford.
Villa had agreed a £40m option to buy but that currently looks unlikely to be activated. Barcelona has been at the top of Rashford's wishlist this summer and their sporting director Deco has expressed his fondness for the 27-year-old, at this stage no formal bid has been placed.
Bayern Munich emerged this week as a reported option for Rashford but, on the eve of pre-season, there are currently no imminent plans to sell the United academy graduate. As such, The Independent understands that Rashford will report to Carrington on Monday with the rest of his teammates for the start of pre-season.
However, this is not thought to mean that a change to United's plans has occurred. It is believed that Rashford and Amorim have had no contact over the summer but the winger is thought to be keen to show the manager what he can give to United if he were to stay.
The move to Villa is thought to have revitalised Rashford and the player is now waiting to see if Amorim will welcome him back or not. From United's perspective, it is believed they still want to sell Rashford this summer along with Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho.
