Sources: New Rodrygo talks scheduled as Arsenal eye big-money transfer

Real Madrid are open to selling Rodrygo and prepared to sanction an exit at around €90m, as GMS first revealed on our Market Madness podcast. However, Arsenal are waiting to discover whether the Brazilian is willing to leave the Bernabeu.

Rodrygo will hold talks with new Real coach Xabi Alonso after the Club World Cup having played just 23 minutes at the tournament, featuring in the 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal on June 18.

Rodrygo was frozen out under Carlo Ancelotti towards the end of last season, although those close to the player deny this was down to a poor attitude in training.

The 24-year-old has struggled for opportunities, especially on his preferred left-wing, due to Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior also playing on that side, and Arsenal believe Rodrygo may be tempted by a role as a starter in that position and a switch to the Premier League.

Rodrygo's statistics for Real Madrid this season

At this stage, Arsenal have only made preliminary enquiries, but their interest is genuine and active, and are now waiting for clarity on whether Rodrygo will ask to leave Real. Should he do so, GMS understands the LaLiga club wouldn't stand in his way.

Arsenal Need to Sell Martinelli or Trossard to Sign High-Profile Winger

Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal are weighing up whether to add a high-profile left-winger, a move that will likely require the exit of Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard. The former is on the radar of Al-Nassr, though Arsenal insiders insist they don't wish to sell. Trossard, meanwhile, has held positive talks over a renewal, but nothing is agreed yet.

Arsenal also appreciate Newcastle's Anthony Gordon, and had looked into signing Nico Williams, but the Athletic Bilbao winger has now penned a new extension keeping him at the club until 2035. Arsenal had ruled out Williams long before this happened due to the overall cost of a transfer.

There is no guarantee Arsenal add a specialist left-winger without a departure first. And another option discussed is to sign right-sided cover for Bukayo Saka and to persist with Martinelli and Trossard. As a result, Arsenal have held initial talks with Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, with some in the club's recruitment team inclined to advance talks in the coming weeks knowing the England international can also be used on the left.

Chelsea Could Demand £60m for Madueke

Arsenal have held initial talks over a deal

Madueke won't come cheap if Chelsea are to entertain a sale. There is no specific asking price yet, but GMS understands the total package, including add-ons, would likely need to exceed £55m and potentially even break the £60m barrier. Chelsea paid £29m for Madueke and would want to make a significant profit on that number.

Arsenal's interest in Rodrygo, Gordon and Madueke is separate to their expected pursuit of Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze. The 27-year-old is viewed as an attacking midfielder even though he is also comfortable out wide.

Arsenal are likely to make an approach to Cyrstal Palace having held talks with Eze last weekend. It is not thought Arsenal wish to trigger Eze's £68m release clause should they choose to advance things.
