Everton transfer to be done in the coming hours – Club already working to replace him

Everton’s move for Thierno Barry is completely done and should be made official in the coming hours.

That’s [according to Estadio Deportivo](https://www.estadiodeportivo.com/futbol/villarreal/suma-carrera-para-firmar-evann-guessand-20250704-502515.html), who report that Villarreal are already working on replacing him with Evan Guessand.

They report that the sale of Thierno Barry to Everton is closed and will be made official in the coming hours. Villarreal certainly believe it is a done deal and are already looking to the future.

That tallies with reports from across the last few days which have stated that a €35m plus €5m deal has been done between the two clubs and Barry is now in Miami waiting for it to be finalised.

Interestingly, Everton manager David Moyes is also based in Miami this summer, watching the Club World Cup and working on transfer business. The idea that the deal will be closed in the coming hours is new.

Villarreal want to be quick in replacing Barry, though, and have targeted Guessand according to reports in France. Estadio say similar and report that their management, led by Roig Nogueroles, the head of their transfer market business, is already working to mitigate Barry’s departure and that of Alex Baena.

That’s seen them join the race for Guessand, with Barry seen as done and on his way to Everton sooner rather than later.
