Aston Villa are doing all they can to be financially sound this summer and avoid any PSR breaches.
Indeed, Villa have agreed to sell a 90% stake in their women’s team to V Sports, with the remaining 10% to be sold to external investors, for a fee reported to be £55million.
This means that the West Midlands outfit will not necessarily have to sell a key player, which was a growing concern this summer.
Ollie Watkins has been linked with a Villa Park exit to aid the financial situation, but that may not need to happen now.

Aston Villa aid PSR worries by following Chelsea’s lead
Aston Villa and Chelsea are set to be hit with financial penalties by UEFA for breaches that have occurred over the last few seasons.
The West Midlands club also had PSR worries, but have followed Chelsea’s lead by selling their women’s team.

Football finance expert Dan Plumley – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has provided insight into what that means for the Villans’ finances.
“Perhaps this was not the most difficult prediction that everybody made, was it?” he said.
“We expected if a club was going to do this, it was going to be Villa, so it certainly will help out with the Premier League PSR, which is what we’ve been talking about with that club, needing to do what Chelsea did last year, so we perhaps saw it coming in that regard.
“It won’t help them out with UEFA because they don’t allow for that in the same way that English football does, so there’s still the settlement with UEFA to come, but we’d expect that to be a fine rather than anything major.
*“Certainly, from a Premier League PSR point of view, it’s a repeat of the Chelsea situation, isn’t it, and what they’ve done there to be able to offset some of those challenges that they’ve had against PSR that we were led to believe.*“

Emi Martinez could still leave Villa Park this summer
Despite the work done to avoid a PSR breach, Unai Emery’s side may still sell some of their assets this summer.
Martinez is the most likely to leave after he waved goodbye to supporters during the Premier League club’s final home game.
He has interest from Saudi Arabia and the English top flight, but a move is yet to gather pace.
As it stands, Villa are now in a healthier financial position and have a better idea of the business they can do this summer.
