Arsenal have stepped up discussions over a potential move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, with the player reportedly open to a transfer across London, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners are intensifying their search for attacking reinforcements after finishing another season without silverware under Mikel Arteta. With top targets Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting CP and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško identified for the No.9 role, attention has also turned to the flanks, where Arsenal are exploring high-profile additions, particularly with Gabriel Martinelli’s future under scrutiny.

Among the names linked to the club are Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon. However, Madueke has emerged as a realistic target, and Arsenal have reportedly held multiple conversations with the 23-year-old’s representatives in recent weeks.

Romano revealed via hisYouTube channel that while there is no official bid or advanced negotiations yet, dialogue with Madueke’s camp remains ongoing.

“I’m told, in recent hours, contacts are taking place again with the camp of Noni Madueke,” Romano said. “Arsenal remain in contact with his camp and just to give you my feeling, when people close to the player continue to meet the club, it means the player could be open to a potential switch to Arsenal.”

Romano was quick to clarify that this doesn’t mean Madueke is definitively leaving Stamford Bridge, nor that a deal is imminent: “It just means that Noni Madueke opens doors to a potential move to Arsenal. Then, it depends on what Arsenal want to do, what they can offer, and what Chelsea are willing to accept.”

Chelsea are believed to be open to the idea of selling Madueke if they receive a suitable offer, with reports suggesting they would entertain bids in the region of £50 million. The Blues, who just secured the signing of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, appear to be reshaping their wide options ahead of the new campaign.

Madueke enjoyed a solid 2024/25 season, registering seven goals and three assists in the Premier League as Chelsea secured a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification. He joined the club in January 2023 from PSV Eindhoven in a £28.5 million deal and is under contract until June 2030.
