Referee named for Club World Cup match between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund

FIFA have appointed Brazilian referee Ramon Abatti as the man in charge of Saturday’s (22:00 CEST, 04:00pm EST, New Jersey) match between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in the FIFA Club World Cup’s Quarterfinals. This will be Abatti’s third game of the tournament, as he refereed Manchester City’s 2-0 win against Wydad and Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Pachuca, where he sent Raul Asencio off early in the contest.

Needless to say, Abatti will have an important role in this match. However, referees have been performing at a very high level so far in this FIFA Club World Cup, so both Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid should expect yet another well-refereed game in this one.

This match will also serve as a rematch of the 2024 UEFA Champions League Final, where Real Madrid beat Dortmund to conquer their 15th European title in a hard-fought game.
