Newcastle United are in a much better position to recruit this summer but the Magpies still face a challenge to maintain their place among the elite

Simon Jordan has labelled PSR rules a 'nonsense' when Newcastle United's owners have 'more money than God'.
The former Crystal Palace chairman has again called for change because Newcastle have 'every right' to spend like Manchester City and Chelsea did before the regulations were introduced in 2013.
Newcastle have still managed to disrupt the established order by qualifying for the Champions League in two of the last three seasons, but the Magpies face a challenge to maintain their place among the elite - let alone take the next step in a PSR world.
"You find me a more sustainable model than the PIF," Jordan told talkSPORT. "Whether you like it or you don't, you find a more sustainable position than a fund that has more money than God owning Newcastle.
"You get the Premier League to tell me what sustainability is because it's nonsense. You tell me what profit is for. What is the purpose of it? Is it to invest in the shareholders? Is it to invest in the football club?
"Sustainability is a football club that's able to meet its economic responsibilities and not put itself in existential jeopardy and has some controls and governance around it that doesn't allow the industry to be the wild west.
"Whether that means they have to put a bond up that can be put in the central bank of the Premier League if a football club and owner falls foul like Roman Abramovich?
"You put a framework around it but you don't close it for business. Allow people to build football clubs in a way that's commensurate with their ownership model and allows investment. I've always maintained that a new ownership model should be the ones allowed to invest."
