Several Bundesliga clubs are keeping a close watch on Arsenal forward Kai Havertz, with his long-term future at the Emirates uncertain and his contract set to enter its final two years in the summer of 2026, according to Sami Mokbel ofBBC Sport.
The 26-year-old Germany international, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea for £65 million in 2023, remains a valued member of Mikel Arteta’s squad, but his role could face fresh scrutiny as the club continues to pursue a new centre-forward. Arsenal’s interest in strikers such as Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško has raised questions about where Havertz fits into the long-term plan.
Havertz, who signed a five-year deal running until June 2028, has made 87 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 29 goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions. However, his 2024/25 campaign was disrupted by a hamstring injury suffered during a mid-season training camp in Dubai, limiting his contributions to nine goals. He made a strong recovery and was in contention for Arsenal’s Champions League semi-final fixtures late in the season.

While the club is not currently seeking to offload Havertz, Bundesliga clubs potentially including Bayern Munich and his former side Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly monitoring developments closely, particularly if his playing time becomes limited.

Leverkusen, where Havertz began his professional career and became their youngest-ever Bundesliga debutant at just 17, has been floated as a sentimental potential destination, though other top German clubs such as Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are also believed to be watching the situation.

Arteta has praised Havertz’s versatility and intelligence, deploying him in various attacking roles since his arrival. Initially trialled as a midfielder, Havertz eventually settled into a central striking position and delivered some key performances. However, the expected arrival of a new number nine could push Havertz into a deeper role or potentially diminish his minutes, a scenario Bundesliga clubs are prepared to capitalise on.
According to BBC Sport, Arsenal are open to the idea of selling one established first-team player over the next year as part of their squad evolution strategy, and Havertz’s contract situation combined with interest from abroad makes him a name to watch in the coming transfer windows.
For now, Havertz remains committed to Arsenal, but the interest from Germany signals that his future may be up for discussion if the Gunners’ summer business significantly alters the attacking hierarchy.
