Leeds United have identified Lazio left-back Nuno Tavares as an option to replace Junior Firpo in the current transfer window.
Firpo sealed his Elland Road exit as his contract at the West Yorkshire outfit expired at the end of June.
The former Barcelona defender has been linked with a return to Real Betis, but a decision has not been made on his future.

Leeds United must look to sign Tavares
Tavares would be an excellent signing for Leeds United to replace Firpo, offering a significant upgrade in dynamism and maturity.
Unlike the Dominican Republic international, whose inconsistent defending and injury issues have frustrated fans, Tavares brings pace, attacking flair and improved defensive awareness.
His performances at Lazio have reflected a marked improvement from his earlier Arsenal days.
At the Emirates Stadium, the Portugal international struggled with positional errors, but loans at Marseille, Nottingham Forest, and Lazio have honed his decision-making.
His athleticism suits Daniel Farke’s high-pressing system, and he could be a cost-effective option.
Tavares’ versatility and upward trajectory make him ideal to solidify the Elland Road outfit’s defence in their Premier League survival push.
